When buying contacts you should always shop around. Buying directly through your eye doctor is almost never the best deal. The first thing I do is search the internet to see if there are rebates on my contacts. Usually the more boxes you buy, the bigger the rebate. So it usually is better to buy a full year supply if you can find a rebate. The second thing I do is use websites that give cash back or other rewards to shop through them (ebates, mypoints, quickrewards, etc). I then look for coupons for the contact websites. It takes a while, but typically you can find a combination of rebates, coupons, and cash back that make your contacts a great deal.

Pretty much any website that verifies your prescription with the eye doctor is reputable, so don't worry so much about whether or not you have heard of the website.
If you are unsure, search for reviews of the website. Most importantly, don't wait until you are on your last pair of contacts to buy new ones, you'll feel pressured to buy quickly and might miss big discounts!

| "I buy my contacts online because it's cheap and convenient. Going to a optometrist can be time consuming and since I already have a prescription it is unnecessary. When ordering online you get a much larger selection of contacts and most of them are sold at a substantially cheaper price then you'd find at a land based store. The best part is I can have the contacts delivered directly to my home so I don't have to worry about going out of my way to pick a prescription up. Some sites even allow you to sign up to have new contacts mailed to your house periodically so you never run out. It's just a great value!" David from Raleigh NC"Primarily, I buy eye contacts online because it is a lot cheaper than buying them at traditional brick-and-mortar stores. This even accounts for shipping and handling fees. Usually, the only drawback is that if I want to avoid shipping costs, I would have to buy more than one pair, but that is fine as having an emergency pair of contacts is generally a good idea. Also, because there are several online places to choose from prices are usually competitive. All the places I purchased contacts have all the brand names I'm familiar with and are sold at traditional brick-and-mortar stores. Finally, some of the online stores send me e-mails from time to time giving me coupons or letting me about special deals they're having at the moment. Some stores even have partnerships with other online businesses (like Drugstore.com) and give me "reward points" that I can use toward a purchase. The only thing I would warn against those interested is that the waiting period might take about two weeks."
